About Us – Hotel Grand Shambala

Hotel Grand Shambala Hotel, established in August 2015, is situated in a quiet side of Muktinatah Bazaar—the very religious, historical and touristic centre of Mustang. The hotel’s convenient location allows our guests to enjoy the captivating nature, calm atmosphere and still have facilities akin to city life close at hand. Explore the religious and spiritual aestheticism of Muktinath Temple situated nearby our hotel, behold the serene view of Himalaya range, learn the traditional culture of Tibetan culture and visit different popular trekking regions from the region, which lies at the of Annapurna Trekking route. Muktinath Temple is the only point where the Hindu and Buddhist devotee comingle. The owner of the “Hotel Grand Shambala” in Ranipawa, Muktinath is Namgya Wangdi Gurung (Suraj). With the help of his friends, Namgya has been managing Kathmandu Hankook Sarang, a Korean eatery in Thamel, Kathmandu. However, the restaurant’s original name was Hankook Sarang. In the valley, in Jawalakhel, it has another branch.

He is a young man who was born in Muktinath and raised in Pokhara, a popular tourist destination. He was the previous village leader and the former president of the local “Janapriya Youth Club” (Mukhiya). Through his involvement in social services, tourism, and the arts, he has helped his hometown prosper.

He launched the “Grand Shambala Hotel” in Ranipauwa in August 2015. He runs the family-run company with his life partner Pema Khando Gurung. He is a father of two sons.

Beside contributing to the growth of hospitality industry and the entire tourism industry in
Muktinath region, we (Hotel Grand Shambala) are also committed to serve the society and
people in the region. Hotel Grand Shambala believes that change that a small enterprise like ours
can bring in the society and thus we have been highly prioritizing on social corporate
responsibilities in the recent years.

Among other activities towards the society in the offing, Hotel Grand Shambala plans to
establish a separate fund in the near future and mobilize the fund to uplift the society. Our team
plans to contribute almost Rs 100,000 to the fund every year out of the hotel’s annual profit and
use it for different purposes to cater to various needs of the society …more
