Beside contributing to the growth of hospitality industry and the entire tourism industry in
Muktinath region, we (Hotel Grand Shambala) are also committed to serve the society andvpeople in the region. Hotel Grand Shambala believes that change that a small enterprise like ours can bring in the society and thus we have been highly prioritizing on social corporate responsibilities in the recent years.
Among other activities towards the society in the offing, Hotel Grand Shambala plans to establish a separate fund in the near future and mobilize the fund to uplift the society. Our team
plans to contribute almost Rs 100,000 to the fund every year out of the hotel’s annual profit and use it for different purposes to cater to various needs of the society.
Among others, we plan to serve old age people in the Muktinath
region and nearby rural municipalities. Especially, we plan to mobilize the fund to cater various demands of old age people in the region including support in housing, food and clothing. We plan to coordinate with the local government in the region and work together with the government to ensure that old age people live a healthy life in Muktinath area.
Along with this, we also plan to use the fund to organise and promote various other tourism related activities in the Muktinath area. Organising different religious events, adventure sports and other packages of tourism activities are also in the plan. As Muktinath region is famous for religious tourism and the flow of religious tourists from across the world, including India is
increasing in the region we believe that any hotels established in the region should offer varieties of tourism packages for visiting tourists. Moreover, adequate tourism packages (activities) are necessary to ensure sustainable growth of tourism sector in the Muktinath region. This is where
our focus has been in the recent years.
As a part of our corporate social responsibility, especially targeting the incoming tourists in the region, Hotel Grand Shambala have already supported to local club organising series of festivals in the recent past. One of the festival was Yartung Horse parade: This is one of the major festival in this district. Local people gather to meet their friends and relatives on this occasion. The spectacular view of horse race in the mountainous track takes the adventure to another level.
Muktinath is one of the holiest pilgrimage site of both Hindu and Buddhist pilgrimage people of all over the world. Mustang is very rich in culturally and naturally. Yartung festival is celebrate in the middle mustang especially in Muktinath valley and upper Mustang (lo manthang) . Now middle mustang people are called ‘bargungwa gurung’ and Thakuri. We organise Yartung
festival, which is based on lunar Tibetan calendar, especially on the august full moon day or Janai Purnima day. It is celebration and attraction of horse parade, horse racing , scarf picking
from horse riding with wearing colorful dresses, local shyabru dance, singing and various local games. Riders from surrounding villagers gather and take part in horse festival and a special
horse for the god of the yartung is brought out for him to ride.
